Being onboard the Oneworld superyacht is truly is a magical experience, and from the moment we stepped foot on Oneworld every detail was attended to, from the elite nature of the yacht itself, down to the attentive staff, service, and amenities.
As we approached the yacht at Hamilton Island Marina, we were greeted by the professional crew of six and welcomed onboard with cocktails, canapés, and cold towels. The main bedroom is spacious and elegant with ample room, a walk-in closet, and a bathroom with everything you could ever need. There are also five guest suites, each also with their own ensuite bathroom and state of the art entertainment system.
Departing the port of Hamilton Island, we made ourselves at home and sat down for coffee and a delicious made-to-order breakfast. Likewise relaxed on the rear deck and cruised out to sea. Captain Matt came to join us, sitting down with a map to show us the Islands and plan our charter for the day. With over 21 anchorages available around the Whitsunday Islands right at our doorstep, we were truly spoilt for choice. Being on Oneworld you really have the opportunity to leave no stone unturned.
The vibrant underwater world surrounding the islands is waiting to be explored, and aboard Oneworld there is no shortage of activities to do and experience. Oneworld has loads of water toys for the adventure seekers and youngsters, including a fun air slide, stand up paddleboards, kayaks, and snorkeling equipment.
The expansive rear flybridge is fitted out with luxurious sofas, daybeds, and a 5-person jacuzzi, and bow area has ample room for laying out underneath the sun, reading or napping. That’s a part of the beauty of Oneworld, you really have the best of both worlds. You can sit back and relax in an intimate setting, or take an adventurous expedition filled with entertainment and recreational activities.
For our day charter adventure, we decided on anchoring off the Crystal clear waters of Whitehaven beach, famed for its 7km of 99% pure silica sand. Being escorted by friendly deckhand Jack to the tender, and driven right to the beach. Passing Oneworld from this vantage point was really a rockstar moment – the boat was looking world-class, big, and bold, reflecting sparkles of light off the water. Driving past and letting it sink in that for that moment and for your charter that incredible yacht is all yours – it’s definitely an experience and feeling to put on the bucket list to experience for yourself.
Stepping off the tender onto the beach, the sand is pure, pristine white, and the water clear, glistening, aqua-azure. There are no tourists taking over, it feels remote, and like a private island. For that reason, we walked to the end of the beach and took the short bushwalk trail to the viewing platform, as per the crew’s suggestion, and took in the showstopping view.
After descending from the hike, we walked back across the white sands to our pick up in the tender by our friendly deckhand Jack and taken back on board. Our jaws hit the floor to what was greeting us – a phenomenal show-stopper lunch platter featuring whole fried coral trout, mud crab, oysters, tiger prawns, fresh dips, salads, everything you could ever want.
Our chef, Tim had asked us what we liked – and oh boy – did he deliver! Our seafood loving prayers had been answered and we were absolutely spoilt with a culinary adventure that was certainly on par with the high standards of the nautical adventure of the day.
The staff is second to none. They have managed to strike the ever-elusive balance between providing exceptional service, whilst also maintaining a relaxed, down to earth atmosphere where guests can truly switch off and unwind.
And that we did! It is a huge luxury doing a charter knowing that all the upkeep is all taken care of. Furthermore, our lunch was followed up with a relaxing spa in the jacuzzi with some cocktails and canapes, finishing off a perfect day in the water. It feels like cruising back to the harbor at sundown is a surreal experience, time seems to stand still.
We took a moment of quiet reflection to collect our thoughts and take in the cumulative experience that took our breath away. The sunset reflecting off the water in this area in the world is a sight to behold.
